A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing my good friend Holly and her now husband Nico on their wedding day. Holly and I spent our teenage years going to the same youth group + high school and more recently have become hiking buddies. You might also recognize Holly because she graced my blog last year as a bridesmaid in her brother Nate’s wedding. Nico went to our high school too but I didn’t ever actually meet him until his wedding day (which is so unusual considering how small our school was). These two also met in at that little school, but if I remember right it was back in those elementary school days. We all laughed so hard as one of Holly + Nico’s close friend’s recounted those MSN days where they these two started “dating” or whatever those online relationships were haha. I’m glad they started dating in real life in their grade twelve year because they are such a good couple and so well suited for each other.
Their mid-november wedding day was so pretty, catching the last of those fall leaves. They chose not to have a bridal party but their day left you with no doubt in your mind about the close friends that these two have surrounded themselves with. It was so cool to see people there who they both had life-long friendships with as well as people they had met in their early adult years, all special and so intentional. Their wedding was smaller and fairly intimate and I loved looking around and knowing just how carefully every person was invited.
We started out at Derby Reach for some portraits of just the two of them before heading to their evening ceremony. They got married and had their reception at Krause Berry Farms and turned it into the cutest little venue, bringing in amazing details like the mountain range backdrop Holly’s brother made. The evening was filled with good food, including fresh berries and a s’mores bar and lots of laughter and conversation. It was such an honour to be there and to photograph these two!
Thanks again for having me, Nico and Holly. Excited for you two and you new life as husband and wife. Hope you had the best time in Mexico!
I am now booking for the 2016 wedding season. Send me an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) and we’ll go for coffee – my treat – to chat more about your big day!
